operate today at our Home Market. Even
after harvesting wild black raspberries in the early morning
before going to work, there was more demand than we had produce.
That's when I started making the garden bigger. Ann and Greg
went on to bigger opportunities and I was left with the family
business. Fourteen years ago I retired from the Eli Lilly Credit
Union and I then decided to operate Your Neighbor's Garden
full-time.
Our primary objective is to offer
the largest variety of LOCAL FRUIT AND VEGETABLES in Central
Indiana. A growing number of consumers desire produce which
is LOCAL, SEASONAL AND FRESH. We are here to satisfy those
desires.
In addition to selling at our Home Market we started selling to restaurants and farmers' markets 18 years ago.
The GARDEN has been a labor of love since its beginning
when it began as a family project. When Greg (9) and Anne
(12) asked me if they could have a lemonade stand, I suggested
that they could probably make more money selling
the excess vegetables from my backyard garden. We started
with the produce on a picnic table near the road and we soon
started selling on an on-your-honor and serve-yourself basis
which is how we
We grow produce on 2 acres, all located within a mile of our home on the northwest side of Indianapolis. In addition to the vegetables grown by us, produce comes from a few other Indiana growers. We know these growers personally and only purchase from growers who grow the best produce in the State.
